Born in 2003, the Swiss and German laureate of numerous piano competitions, Luc van Doornick, is remarkably versatile. After receiving his first lessons at the age of six at the music school of Uster-Greifensee from Alexandra Rabara, he was soon admitted into the regional support program for gifted students. From 2016 onwards, he gained admission to the "Kunst- und Sportgymnasium Rämibühl", an upper school for exceptional musical talents in Zurich. There, he was taught by well-known Swiss pianist Oliver Schnyder, among others. From 2019, he trained in the PreCollege of Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) under Micha Cheung. Since the summer of 2022, Luc has been a bachelor student of classical piano in the class of renowned Prof. Konstantin Scherbakov at ZHdK. Luc has won multiple prizes in various competitions, including several first prizes in the finals of the Swiss Youth Music Competition. In 2020, he also won a first prize at "Jugend musiziert" in Germany and was awarded at the international "Stay home young competition”. He has attended numerous master classes with remarkable pianists such as Milana Chernyavska, Yulianna Avdeeva, Jeffrey Swann and Pavel Nersessian and has already performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician on many concert stages and festivals in Switzerland, Germany, and Argentina. In 2021, he made his debut as a soloist with an orchestra, performing Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major at ZHdK under the direction of Holly Choe.
